SsanYong’s Concept SUT 1 to Debut at Geneva Motor Show

SsangYong, a Korean automobile manufacture will use the International Motor Show going on presently in Geneva to debut its latest concept Sport Utility Truck 1, before going on sale in the European and various other markets in 2012. The SUT 1 is similar to its preview illustrations which were released last week. The proportions and styling will remind you of the sleeker Honda Ridgeline version pick up truck with a little styling influence by Mercedes noticeable in the flanks.

The model is based on the new compact crossover vehicle Korando C of   SsangYong. The wheel base of this truck models measures around 120 inches which is not that large, and falls just two inches short of the wheel base of Honda’s Ridgeline. This sport truck will be powered by a four cylinder 2.0 liter clean diesel engine which can deliver a horsepower of 153 and a torque of 265 pounds feet.

The powertrain that will be featured is either a choice between the six speed automatic or manual transmission. This sport truck has also been supplied with a ball hitch for towing purposes. This will enable the truck to tow a smaller caravan or trailer around the back roads of Europe.

The truck thought makes for a very stylish appearance, while it’s trucking capabilities are yet to be seen. This truck is built for those looking for a compact four door pick up trucks which has a thrifty and stout engine. The exterior design of this truck is a bit rugged and suitable for everyday driving because of its size. Parking also won’t be much of a hassle with its compact frame.

The Korean company was only recently acquired by Mahindra & Mahindra, after the Korean Co. filed for bankruptcy protection, and it was named as the preferred bidder in 2010, which was later on approved by the Free Trade Commission of South Korea. Mahindra & Mahindra is currently in arbitration with their US distributor because of delays in bringing their small diesel, TR Series pick up truck to the country.
